You can do wonders by opening a Google AdWords account. It has much more than just pay per click advertising. If you like to play by the numbers, you can definitely build some good business there. Next, use PRWeb.com to send out a press release. This helps with exposure and your search engine optimization. Finally, take part in forums and comment in blogs that are relevant to your website. Be a valuable part of the conversations and include a link to your site in your signature. These three things can quickly bring quality visitors to your site. I came across this web promotion site for small businesses. I think it's at Web Site Promotion For The Small Business. The guy seems pretty credible and he seems to have a lot of good tips.

A great way to get almost instant visitors to your site/blog is to use stumbleupon. If your content is "good" a stumble by yourself and those who visit your website can send hundreds of visitors in hours. Stumbling is a great internet marketing strategy that is free at the same time.

There are dozens of ways to generate traffic to an online website, all of them viable methods that combined can really help boost rankings and traffic. I would say one of the biggest trends now is Social Bookmarking with websites such as Digg.com or Stumbleupon.com. There is a complete guide to traffic on Free Links Direct that goes very in-depth that everyone may want to give a look to. View their guide to website traffic for some great ideas that go beyond the basics.

If you ask me for just one tip, that would be: leaving your link behind when contributing and posting thoughtful and useful comments on relevant, related and highly visited blog and forum sites. workonline
