Mathew,
The vast majority of the contracting industry struggles simply becuase they are better craftsmen as opposed to businessmen. Your job is to learn how to never turn down business by growing the company. A customer today can easily be a good repeat customer tommorrow. You should learn how to expand your network by sharing leads with other contractors as well as sub-contractors. The trick will be managing their work to ensure they provide the same 101% service that you would provide. A lot of this has to do with education and another portion has to do with technology and being better connected with the homeowner and the contractor or sub-contractor. I would suggest you going to TheContractorShow.com for education and MyOnlineToolbox.com for ideas on how to better automate yourself. I spend 101% of my time helping people accomplish both these issues. Feel free to personally reach out to us to further help you.
