Actually, it's not usually the Small Business Administration (SBA) that provides government contracting assistance, it's the Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTACs). PTACs are funded by the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) to provide start-to-finish assistance to businesses in selling their products or services to the government. Most of this assistance is free of charge. The SBA offices in most cases will refer government contracting inquiries to the local PTAC for assistance.

There are currently 93 PTAC offices across the United States, and you may find the office that services your area by going to http://www.dla.mil/db/procurem.htm.
