Recovering income earned on eBay

Jeanette Vallejo, Montclair, Calif.
My boyfriend and I started a small business on eBay using his credit. I developed all the forms, sent invoices, and kept logs of the people who purchased from us since we started this business. My e-mail address has been used for all PayPal transactions and questions from customers. I have never been paid for this service. He is now making $2,000 a weekend. I suspect that he is cheating on me. If we split up, what can I do? I would like to know if I can get at least half of what he has made. Is that possible?

Hi,

If i was you i would make a quick copy of all his inventory and save this on a CD for backup.

If your using turbo lister or blackthorne as your listing tool this should be easy enough to do by simply create a backup database. I would also recommend you make a copy of all your server files, this may be files that contain images hosted within your listings.

Atleast this way if you do find out his cheating on you then you can simply start a new shop on ebay.

I would also recommend you changing the password to your server or FTP details and also look at setting up any email adddress through outlook on your own computer….This way if he ever puts in a request to change the password thsi will be dropped into your outlook email and you can simply go in a change it or even delete the email account.

If you have to be one step ahead dont let the cheating toad get on over on you.

Many Thanks

Jeanette,

Sorry to hear about your boyfriend. That's terrible thta he would do something like that and that he doesn't respect you. Margalit is right you need to worry about you first..

Once you feel better then you can pursue improving your own business. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that your not going to be able to receive half of your boyfriends business. However, I do recommend two things:

1) First, consider forming your own business as recommended by Margalit.

2) Why not consider another alternative source of e-commerce business? Something that will differentiate your boyfriends business from yours.. How about joining Amazon?

Good luck Jeanette and remember worry about you first!! Then you can (tcb)take care of business… :)

Jeanette,

It sounds to me as if you know this business inside out. Why don't you just start your own using your own personal cumputer, at another location, away from boyfriend? You can do this, get the business up and running, without informing him of anything, and once you are on solid ground leave.

If all it takes is weekend to do this business, that's even better. You have the rest of the week to look for a place to move to by yourself, set up your business equipment, etc.

Just don't leave until you are on solid ground, then leave boyfriend to do all the hard work, and PLEASE, look for someone else. REMEMBER, charity starts at home, and that means you take care of you, before taking care of this boyfriend or another.
